U13 Slough Junior Jets v U13 Invicta Chargers - Sunday 1st October 2017
Game week 3 saw the Chargers travel away to the face the Slough Junior Jets hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
The Chargers got the 1st Period away to a shaky start as they found themselves 1-0 down to a hungry Jets team after just 40 seconds. The Chargers regrouped quickly and held the Jets at bay for the majority of the period with netminder No. 66 Matei Pera-Hall making a number of saves to keep them in the game, but despite this the Jets scored a further two quick goals toward the end of the period to go in 3-0 at the break.
The Chargers started the 2nd Period the brighter team and were rewarded for their early efforts with a well taken finish by No.10 Harrison Prentice assisted by No. 51 Bailey Humphrey to get them back in the game at 3-1. However, a short while later the Jets restored their 3-goal cushion to make the score 4-1, with both teams battling through to the end of the period.
The 3rd period saw a spirited comeback by the Chargers as they looked to claw themselves back into the game, pinning the Jets in their own end for long periods and scoring early on with No. 6 Brandon Chard coolly finishing in the corner assisted by No. 15 Olly Wagg to bring the Chargers back in the game at 4-2. The Chargers continued to apply pressure and they scored again a few minutes later through No. 15 Olly Wagg assisted by No. 54 Taylor Chard to bring the Chargers within a single score. The last few minutes saw end to end action but the Slough Jets 'D' stood firm and ended the game 4-3 winners at the final buzzer.
Spirit of the Game was awarded to goalie Matei Pera-Hall who made a number of key stops throughout the game and a produced final period shut out. Man of the Match went to No. 15 Olly Wagg.
