Bucks Enjoy Great Cross-Ice Tournament in Slough

February 17, 2018

U9 Invicta Buckaroos Tournament Report - 17 February 2018

The Buckaroos Under 9’s travelled to Slough for the rescheduled cross-ice tournament. The tournament was originally due to be played in January, but due to heavy snowfall the tournament was postponed.

The Buckaroos were in high spirits and again armed with a full squad. With other participating teams being short-benched, Xenxo Dobbs and James Stanmore played for the Slough Junior Jets, and Harry Foreman and Charlie Murray helped out by dressing for the Lee Valley Junior Lions. Xenxo and James both scored a few to lend a helping hand to Slough as did Harry for the Lions. Charlie was really unlucky hitting the pipe numerous times and had many on target shots saved.

Invicta Buckaroos faced off against Streatham first, fighting for an elusive win against the South-Londoners. Streatham were the first to score, but the Bucks, who remained focused and played some outstanding hockey, found the back of the net. Goal scorers included Reuben Yeates , Oliver Parker, Josh Fielding (who got a hat-trick) and Taylor Edwards. At final whistle, it was a draw despite the hard work and brilliant shots from our Buckaroos. The Buckaroos are determined to get a win against Streatham before the season is out….

Invicta played Slough next and again there was an abundance of goals.  Reuben scored the opening goal and Oliver, Josh, Callum Wilson, Noah Wagg and Aurora Dobbs followed suit. It was Aurora Dobbs’ first goal for the Buckaroos. Charlie Duncan-Woolard took charge as the Bucks only 'tendie' and made some amazing saves as always.

Finally, the Buckaroos faced the Lee Valley Lions. Again there were goals aplenty. Nicholas Pera-Hall scored his first goal, much to everyone’s delight. Reuben, Oliver and Callum added to their personal tally, as did Noah who registered a hat-trick. Jacob O’Dwyer also put his name on the scoresheet.

It was a great tournament for the Buckaroos, who left Slough with two wins and a draw.

Player of the Tournament was awarded to Aurora, with Taylor received Spirit of the Match.

The Buckaroos next cross ice tournament is Sunday 11th March (Mothers Day!!) when they travel to Lee Valley.

Puck drops at 17.15. Let’s Go Buckaroos!!!
