Buckaroos Make Mothers' Days in Lee Valley

March 24, 2018

U9 Invicta Buckaroos Tournament Report - 11 March 2018

The Under 9 Buckaroos travelled to Lee Valley on Mother’s Day for another cross ice tournament. As always, a long Buckaroos bench travelled and dressed for the game, and they were all raring to go!

With Team Coach Paul Wilson was unavailable to attend,  Medway Eagle Murray Batten and the Invicta Mustang Luke Thirkettle stepped in to coach the Buckaroos over the three games.

The Buckaroos played the Slough Jets in their first game of the day. Unfortunately, the Jets were scored the first goal of the game, but Josh Fielding was quick to react and evened the score. Slough retaliated with another on shot target, finding the back of the net. Undeterred, Reuben Yeates, Oliver Parker and Taylor Edwards were able to put Invicta in front with some amazing goals! The first cross ice match ended 4-2 to the Buckaroos!

The Lee Valley Lions were the Buckaroos' next opponents. The Lions were quick off the mark and managed to secure two goals past Invicta tendie, Charlie Duncan-Woolard. Harry Foreman and William Lake reacted quickly and evened things up. The Buckaroos were just finding their feet when the buzzer sounded earlier than expected due to a mix up with the Lee Valley adjudicator’s timings. At the final buzzer the score was 2-2!

Finally, the Buckaroos faced South Londoners - Streatham. Previous matches have seen the Bucks draw and lose to Streatham so they were all poised to ‘give it their all’ and finally get the elusive win. Unfortunately, the elusive win remains elusive! Streatham scored 5 goals to the Buckaroo’s 3!  Harry chalked up his second of the tournament and Jacob O’Dwyer and Xenxo Dobbs also put their names on the score sheet. Despite an excellent match, with lots of great passing and skating ability on show, the Buckaroos are still chasing the win against Streatham.

Taylor Edwards was awarded Spirit of the Match, and William Lake received Man of the Match!  Well done boys! Thoroughly deserved!

With four cross ice tournaments of the season left, it’s clear to see the Buckaroos have grown in confidence and ability. The camaraderie is evident within the team!

The Under 9’s host their last home game of the season at Gillingham’s Planet Ice and they are determined to have their best cross ice tournament yet! Face off is 16.15!

Let’s go Buckaroos!
