WE WANT YOU!

Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club is the place in Kent to learn and play the fastest, most thrilling team sport in the world. We believe that ice hockey is of a huge benefit to anyone attracted to the fun, speed and technical excellence that the game offers. It is also a sport in which you will make friends for life. As a club we are committed to bringing in as many new players as possible in order to give them the best start in their ice hockey journey.

We are recruiting at all age groups, from our Under 10 Buckaroos to our Under 18 Colts, and welcome any player with a passion for the game. Different age groups require different levels of ability and for any player with skating or hockey experience interested in joining Invicta, we urge you to get in touch by filling in the form at the foot of the page or emailing invictajuniors@gmail.com.

But when it comes to ice hockey, we believe that the earlier you start – the better!

We welcome boys and girls from as young as 5 years old to join our thriving Under 10 Buckaroos. And we are delighted to be able to offer free training fees in 2022/23 for Under 10 children playing their first season. At Under 10s, our only requirement is that players can move around unaided on the ice and are comfortable holding a hockey stick.

But it is never too late to begin, whatever your age, and here is our guide to starting ice hockey and joining the Invicta Juniors.

1. LEARN TO SKATE

The club works closely with Planet Ice Gillingham to create a pathway for prospective players. Even those who have never pulled on a pair of skates.

  • The first port of call is with Planet Ice’s Learn to Skate programme.

  • Planet Ice’s experienced skate coaches will teach the fundamentals of moving around on the ice.

  • If you can stand, you can skate! Planet Ice welcomes toddler Learn to Skate students with its
    Ice Penguin programme.

2. HOCKEY EXCELLENCE

Once you are more confident on the ice, you can sign up to the Hockey Excellence course.

  • Our Invicta Junior coaches teach new players the basics of ice hockey and getting comfortable with stick and puck.

  • Skate coaches continue teaching core skating skills.

  • You do not need your own equipment to sign up to Hockey Excellence; sticks, helmets and skates can all be borrowed from the rink.

  • At Planet Ice Gillingham, we also have our Hockey Excellence Advanced sessions on Tuesday evenings. This is intended as a bridge between Hockey Excellence and team training. Players will require full hockey kit for Hockey Excellence Advanced.

3. JOIN THE TEAM!

Once our coaches are confident in your ability to take part in training safely, you will be invited to join Invicta team sessions for your age group!

  • To join the team, you must register with the EIHA, complete our club forms and sign our Invicta code of conduct. More information on registering with the Invicta Juniors can be found here.

  • Training requires players to have their own full hockey kit.

  • The hockey season runs from August until May.

From here, there is no limit to where our players can go! So why not take the first stride in your hockey journey? We would be delighted to answer any questions from prospective players, so get in touch today by filling in the form below or emailing invictajuniors@gmail.com.
