WHO WE ARE
Ice hockey has been played and watched at Planet Ice Gillingham (or 'The Ice Bowl' for our more mature readers) for over 30 years. Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club's aim is to ensure this continues with a junior development programme that offers children an opportunity not just to play ice hockey, but to grow as individuals.
We believe there are numerous benefits for children who play ice hockey. Improvements in fitness, strength, coordination and agility. And development in confidence, sportsmanship and self-esteem. Above all else, we want to ensure children have fun in a positive, healthy and safe environment.
We have a dedicated and friendly group of coaching volunteers lead by former GB, Elite League and Invicta Dynamos forward Mike Kindred. Our team includes specialised goalie trainers, coaches from the national setup and also current and former Invicta senior players.
Our focus is on creating a positive and welcoming environment that puts our players in the best place to succeed but, more importantly, have a lot of fun and make friends that will last for life.
COACHING
Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club (‘IJIHC’ or ‘the Club’) is a voluntary organisation established to administer, manage and promote junior ice hockey based at Gillingham Ice Rink. Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club is a member of England Ice Hockey (‘EIH’).
Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club members are registered with EIH to enable the insured participation in ice hockey training and games. Invicta Junior Ice Hockey Club members pay fees directly to Bison in the Community, a charitable company responsible for the operation of Gillingham Ice Rink.
Membership fees paid cover the cost of ice time, official UK Hockey referee costs for games and the successful running of the club.
IJIHC is administered by a committee of volunteers, whose collective aims are the successful management of the Club and the achievement of its mission statement. The Committee is made up of several key positions along with the team managers of each of our junior ice hockey teams. If you would like to step up and volunteer to help the Club in a specific role and join the IJIHC Committee, please speak to your Team Manager or email invictajuniors@gmail.com.
